Frequently Asked Questions

Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?
No. Merging happens entirely in your browser using the pdf-lib library. Your documents never leave your device. Safe for contracts, medical records, tax returns.
What's the file size limit?
Practical limit is around 200 MB total (all files combined), depending on your device RAM. For massive PDFs, process in chunks.
Can I merge encrypted / password-protected PDFs?
No — encrypted PDFs must be decrypted first. Open in a PDF viewer that lets you "export" or "print to PDF" as an unencrypted copy, then merge.
Do bookmarks and form fields survive?
Bookmarks: yes. Form fields: typically yes, but complex interactive forms may lose some styling. Signatures will be invalidated (expected — the document has been modified).
What happens to page size differences?
Each PDF keeps its original page sizes. The merged PDF can have mixed page sizes — A4, Letter, Legal all coexist.
Is there a limit on number of files?
Tested with up to 50 files. No hard limit, but browser may slow with large counts.
