Frequently Asked Questions
Does resizing reduce quality?
Downscaling (making smaller) barely reduces perceived quality — just fewer pixels. Upscaling (making larger) introduces blur because no new detail exists. For upscaling, use an AI upscaler tool instead.
What resampling algorithm is used?
The browser's built-in canvas rendering uses bilinear/bicubic interpolation automatically. It's the same algorithm Photoshop's "Bilinear" mode uses — good for most cases, preserves edges reasonably.
How is aspect ratio calculated?
From the source image's width-to-height ratio. When locked, changing width automatically updates height (and vice versa). Unlocking lets you stretch the image non-proportionally.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Safe for private photos, ID scans, or confidential documents.
What are common image sizes?
Web hero: 1920×1080. Blog featured: 1200×630 (also Open Graph). Instagram post: 1080×1080. LinkedIn banner: 1584×396. YouTube thumbnail: 1280×720. Favicon: 512×512.
Can I resize multiple images at once?
Not currently — this tool processes one at a time for clarity. For batch operations, use the Image Compressor which supports multiple files.
